This one is all mine!
Since I started painting furnitue I’ve fallen in love with some of the pieces. I like them all but some are more special than others. As hard as it may be I still list them for sale and wave good bye as they go to their new homes. Every once in a while a piece comes in that truly catches my eye (and my heart) such is the case for this buffet. I found it somewhat by accident while browsing through Craig’s List ads. I emailed a seller about another piece, I went to see it and the piece just wasn’t something I wanted to buy. As I was leaving I saw this piece I asked the lady if it was for sale and she said she had just decided to sell it but she had not had a chance to take pictures to post it. Needless to say, it came home with me! I didn’t even list it with my pieces, It immediately moved into my living room to hold my TV. I don’t really have a before but here it is behind Lola modeling her Minnie Mouse outfit (last year’s Halloween).
I wanted to go bold and bright and it doesn’t get much brighter and bolder than YELLOW!
The dark, drab brown of the before didn’t show all of its gorgeous detail.
Slight distressing make all the carvings and details pop!
The door
The bottom apron
and the legs…
He has been sporting his new color now for a few months and I still LOVE it!!
The comments when I posted photos on Facebook were love or hate, nothing really in the middle. What do you think?

These buffets are a dime a dozen where I live. I don’t think they would be if people saw your transformation! I’m going to pass this on to some friends who have buffet’s sitting in their garages collecting dust. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing! I love your bold color choice. Great work!
I LOVE it! I have a buffet that my husband and I inherited from his grandmother. I so want to paint it to freshen it up. I’m too scared to go that bold…so I’m thinking white or grey. Did you sand and prime before painting? And what kind of paint did you use? Thanks for any tips!
